(Ebru News/AP) Forming the shape of a giant whale, around two thousand people gathered on Bondi beach on Friday to protest against Japanese whaling.

The human sculpture was organised by the Save The Whales Again campaign and supporters lined up to spell out the word save and form the outline of a whale.

Organisers had hoped to break the world record for the largest human humpback whale but fell short of people.

The record remains with 2,500 school children in Los Angeles from an event in May.

Some local celebrities joined in including pro surfer Dave Rastovich, and internationally renowned aerial artist John Quigley.
