EU Reports shows torture cases diminish in Turkey
European Commission reports torture cases in Turkiye dramatically diminished. ULRIKE HAUER, Counselor of the Delegation of European Commission to Turkiye said Turkiye took bold steps in the reforms of human rights.
Delegation of European Commission to Turkiye and Turkish Ministry of Justice held a press conference on preventing torture and ill-treat at Ankara's Sincan Jail.
At the meeting due to the UN's International Day of Support for Torture Victims, HAUER praised the reforms regarding human rights in Turkiye.
Ulrike Hauer says:
"Turkiye has conducted bold reforms in the last years. And the number of torture cases has dropped dramatically. We believe Turkiye will take further steps in preventing torture."
Following the presentation on torture supported by the EU projects, Hauer visited the inmates who have been employed by the jail.
The products made by 270 convicts such as textile, electronics, ornamentation, and agriculture are sold at the shopping center of the jail.
