(Ebru News/Agency) Some 3,939 people broke the world record for "the most Santas handing out presents" in Romania.
The volunteers gathered in front of the Parliament building where they dressed in Santa Claus costumes handed out by Bucharest City Hall, which organised the event.
They then all marched through central Bucharest, singing and dancing, and handing out gifts to onlookers who cheered them along the way.
The organisers gave each Santa Claus a large box with gifts to be handed out along the route.
The Guinness World Records organisation sent a representative to check and certify the record breaking.
Lucia (no last name given), Guinness Book of Records representative said:
"Minimum requirement for this record is three thousand people, which is a very challenging number, we never know what really is going to happen with mass participation records but it looks very good, as there are a lot of people already, so we are hoping for the best."
Bucharest City Hall will attempt to break two other records after Christmas, when the people of Bucharest will try to create the largest sausage and the largest cake in the world.
