(Ebru News/Agency) Organisers in Bucharest won a place in the Guinness Book of Records today with the World's longest smoked sausage.The giant wurst measured a mighty 429 yards.
11. Pull out as Omar hands Guinness Book of World Records certificate to Mayor of Bucharest Sorin Oprescu UPSOUND (English) Tallall Omar, Guinness representative: "A new record for the longest smoked sausage. The total length of this sausage was 392 metres."
It took a fortnight to prepare and according to local media, was 219 yards longer than the previous record, held by a sausage made in Poland.
A representative from Guinness was on hand to confirm the record-breaking sausage, which according to local reports also weighed a hefty 330 pounds.
The record-breaking sausage did not last long, however, as it was chopped up and cooked to provide a meal for the gathered crowds.
City authorities were also planning another record attempt on Sunday with the world's heaviest cake.
