The non-profit organization, Philadelphia Dialogue Forum Women's Division, has committed a night filled with speeches and fellowship to help raise funds for the Linda Creed Breast Cancer Foundation. Volunteers collaborated their efforts in an attempt to spead the message of breast cancer awareness and prevention to a diverse group of women.
Hostess Betul Aksoy took to the podium, inspiring women of all cultures to be pro-active about their own well being. She advocated breast cancer awareness, emphasizing that women need to understand the risks, symptoms and steps towards a healthy future.
Betul Aksoy said:
“The night is for women of wide audience. Non-Turkish Muslims, mainstream Americans and Turkish Americans were invited to make them aware of the breast cancer and the importance looking after women's body”.
Patricia Bradley, a nurse and trainer at the Linda Creed Breast Cancer Foundation encouraged women to be sensible about their breast health.
Patricia Bradley said:
“We take care of a lot of things but we often do not take care of our body particularly above and below the waist...One of the most important risk factor of breast cancer is being female. Males have breasts as well but it is very rare that they get breast cancer but women have a higher risk getting breast cancer because they have more developed breasts”.
LuAnn Cahn, an NBC 10 investigator and breast cancer survivor, was honored to participate and offered words of inspiration and strength to the valued community of women.
LuAnn Cahn said:
“You can survive breast cancer. Don't delay! Put yourself first sometimes before taking care of others. Pursue and find out if you think you have problems with your breast. Go to doctor once a year. Do self breast exam every month and do a memogram if you are 40 or above”.
The evening ended with special gifts, a raffle draw and an empowering message of self awareness for better female health.
