(Ebru News/AP) Democrats Barack Obama and Hillary Rodham Clinton began a gruelling and costly coast-to-coast campaign sprint on Sunday to gain an edge in the 22 states that hold presidential nominating contests on February 5th

Barack Obama, Democratic Presidential Hopeful said:
"All across this nation I am seeing Americans who are re-dedicating themselves to that simple truth that I discovered on the streets of Chicago, that truth that was affirmed as I knelt beneath the cross, the golden rule, still matters,

Hillary Clinton, Democratic Presidential hopeful said:
"I believe that Doctor (Martin Luther) King glimpsed from that mountaintop he talked about the night before he died, what was possible. And it wasn't just possible in terms of politics, or economics, it wasn't just possible in terms of how we broke down barriers and came together, it was about whether we, inside our hearts, saw what was possible for ourselves and others."

Obama's overwhelming support from South Carolina's black Democrats boosts his hopes of winning three other southern states with large black populations that vote on February 5: Georgia, Alabama and Tennessee.

On the Republican side, Mitt Romney sought to lock up the Florida primary talking about the nations' economy.

John McCaine defended positions he took on tax cuts while campaigning across Florida.

Polls show McCain and Romney atop the field, with former New York mayor Rudy Giuliani and former Arkansas Governor Mike Huckabee lagging.
