(Ebru News/AP) Turkish schools in Pakistan are singled out to say that the schools were an indispensable alternative for the patents who would like to protect their teens from extremism in the country. New York Times reporter Sabrina Tavernise found that some Turkish educators came to Pakistan with an entirely different vision of Islam.
The newspaper, emphasizes that Turkish educational volunteers have opened schools in more than 80 countries, Muslim and Christian, and cited Mr. Gulen who says, "without science, religion turns to radicalism, and without religion, science is blind and brings the world to danger."
Turkish schools, have expanded to seven cities in Pakistan and have designed a strong Western curriculum that includes English, math and science.
The Times praises the Turkish way in education underlining the approach appeals to many Pakistani parents, who want their children to be capable of competing with the West without losing their identities to it.
Pakistani parents who were interviewed by The Times emphasized that Pakistani society is changing fast, and more Pakistanis are realizing the importance of education.
